Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a state-level exam conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Exam Regulatory Authority on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB).
This exam is conducted once a year. The candidates who qualify the exam gain the opportunity to teach in Govt. sector for Primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6-8) level teachers in the schools of Uttar Pradesh.
UPTET Previous Year Question Paper with Answer PDF – Eligibility Criteria:
Primary Teachers (Classes I-V)
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks from recognized university & 2 years Diploma (D.Ed) from N.C.T.E/ Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). OR
- Bachelor’s degree & 2 years B.T.C., C.T. (Nursery)/ Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) OR
- Bachelor’s degree & qualification in Special B.T.C. Training OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years & BCT Urdu special training in Uttar Pradesh OR
- Bachelor’s degree and Diploma in Teaching from Aligarh Muslim University (For Urdu Teacher) or Moallim-E-Urdu Degree before 11-08-1997
Primary Sanskrit & English teachers (Classes I-V)
- Bachelor’s degree with Sanskrit/English as the main subject AND
- B.C.T from NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) approved institute OR
- Diploma (D.Ed.) (2 year) from N.C.T.E/ Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) approved institute OR
- 2 year C.T (Nursery)/ Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) from NCTE approved institute

Primary Urdu teacher (Classes I-V)
- Bachelor’s or Post Graduate Degree with Urdu as main subject from recognized university AND
- B.T.C from NCTE approved institute in Uttar Pradesh OR
- BCT (2 years) in Urdu training in Uttar Pradesh OR
- Moallim-E-Urdu Degree holder before 11-08-1997
Criteria to obtain UPTET Eligibility Certificate
Have a look at the criteria below to obtain the UPTET eligibility certificate:
- Candidates who score 60 per cent or above (90/150 marks) in UPTET 2021 exam are awarded the UPTET eligibility certificate
- The reserved category candidates need to score a minimum of 55 per cent (82/150 marks) in order to qualify the exam and get awarded the UPTET eligibility certificate
The eligibility certificate once awarded is now valid for lifetime. Earlier, the certificate was valid for five years.
