Dear readers, here we are offering Salok Mahala 9 (Gurmukhi) PDF to all of you. Guru Ji makes us reflect upon the uselessness of worldly pleasures, we might even enjoy them, but we must remember that they are all temporary, they are not bad or sin as such. For instance, the most delicious sweet can become poison for our health if we keep eating it continuously. Guru Ji says that only God is the true giver of peace, which means while remembering God our mind obtains peace. And it is thanks to God’s name that our mind will be able to calm down, if done with love and devotion and sincerity, we will feel a sense of freedom and independence. Freedom here means Moksha.
Now, what does Moksha stand for, in the scriptures? According to Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Bhagavad Gita, it means the ability to guide our mind in a direction that we say, and not the mind to be our guide. And this ability, as the Guru Ji’s words say, comes through sincere devotion and God’s grace.
Guru Ji, as Shri Krishna and Swami Ji, does not say that this world is bad, he says that we do not have to get trapped in excess of anything. It is an excess of things to satisfy our ego and attachment that scriptures refer to as sin. Even Shri Krishna in Bhagavad Gita says: that moderate sleep and moderate eating, simple lifestyle is essential for a healthy life, both for householder and sage.
